I want to cut my hair short but my husband loves it long and even thretened to seperate from me for a while if i decide to cut it. whats the big deal?

I'm not sure why really, but short hair puts me right off. Long hair is beautiful, feminine and sexy, short hair is more masculine and therefore not as attractive to a man.

Well he shouldn't threaten you like that because that's just wrong. But he may like how you look with the long hair. My fiance got mad when I gut my hair and doesn't want me to cut it again but would never split the relationship up over it. You need to talk with your husband and see what is going on and why he doesn't want you to cut it. He may have another explanation for why. I cant tell you really what to do with out knowing the entire story.

I think long hair is a status thing for women. The longer and the shinier the hair, the bigger the status. I've tried different hairstyles including a short cut - which I loved at the time, and my guy loved it too. I got fed up to it and let my hair grow and now it reaches my shoulders. I get so much more attention from men than I did with my short cut (and my guy wanted me to cut it again... to curb the attention?) and it also seems that women respect me more. All in all I think people - both men and women look at me more positively now.

So it could be a status thing or something very primal, a power thing (men can drag you to their cave by the hair?). Also men go for women who look healthy (healthy women will bear them babies) which is something primal too. A shiny, long hair signifies health. A short hair, not really. At least not in the primitive nook in our brains that regulates the dating and mating behavior.
