I would use something very gentle. Try to stay away from sulphates in your shampoo. They are very drying which would definitely contribute to your hair's dullness. You really can't make your hair grow longer using products it will grow pretty much the same amount no matter what you do.

biolage has good range of hair products. you can use any shampoo but alongwith a very good conditioner, for me dove works the best. you dont even have to spend alot to have healthy silky hair. you can use hot oil by V05 along with garnier fructis shampoo followed by dove or any good conditioner. one more trick is if anyone in your house use hair dyes, the conditioner that comes with these dyes are reaaalllllyyyyyyyyyy good so you can borrow some of it and you'll see the difference yourself :).
