You can always get layers or something to that effect. If you really trust your hairstylist ask their opinion or look up different hairstyles online to find something that lets you keep your length or most of it, but also has some style to it. And keep in mind it will always grow back if you don't like it.

Try on some wigs to see if you really love the way you look with short hair! I found I look better with long hair, my face is too round to make it short. I learned this at the wig store.....but I still loved the fire engine red bob wig! LOL

If your hair is "silky" I am assuming that it is also straight(?). If so, beware of a shorter and more layered haircut. It will tend to look "choppy" unless you use alot of product and style it just right. Straight hair shows everything. And if it is also fine (like a childs hair), it will tend to look flat and lifeless. You most likely have the right haircut for your hairtype already. If you DO get it cut, make sure that you have a long consult with your stylist.
